Navigating Safe and Unsafe Touches with Novy Nest

On 7th February 2019, Team Pratsandhi in collaborated with Novy Nest, the secondary branch of a preschool in Noida, to undertake a workshop on “Safe and Unsafe touch”.

The workshop covered a wide array of subjects ranging from personal space to understanding body parts. Students between the ages of four and six years understood not just on how to identify but also respond to unsafe and unwanted touches.

In addition to this, the workshop focused on teaching students how to identify their body parts and to differentiate between private and non-private. Various activities also enabled students to understand that every individual has their own comfort zone and privacy which need to be respected along with the importance of consent. Students were encouraged to practice shouting “NO” when they felt uncomfortable and to become comfortable with the same.

Towards the end, the children learned about communicable diseases and how to prevent them from being transmitted from one person to another through activities. They were encouraged to ask questions and clarify their doubts.
